An update from our newly established patient panel

To align Immune-Image procedures with patient needs, a patient panel was set-up based on the preferred design by patients. The patient panel consists of eight individuals, and is divided into an oncology and an inflammatory disease taskforce. More information about the clinical studies was provided to the patient panel members, and a 1-on-1 meeting was scheduled with the patient panel members to get acquainted and ensure alignment of expectations.

Patient panel design

Per taskforce, two meetings have taken place, in which the first focused on informed consent and the second on study procedures in molecular imaging studies. Prior to the meetings, two surveys were shared with the patient panel members to collect preliminary information about their experiences and perspective. The outcomes of the survey facilitated the discussions during the meetings. ttopstart mediated the discussions between the patient panel members and the clinical researchers, allowing patients to share their experiences and insights.

Added value of the patient panel

Consecutive to the patient panel meetings, another survey was shared with the patient panel members to capture their perspective on the involvement in the patient panel activities. The patients addressed that they were happy to get this opportunity to provide their input. In addition, they indicated that it was helpful to have clinical researchers present in the discussions to exchange ideas and identify the limitations in research. From the perspective of the clinical researchers, the patient panel gave insight into the feasibility of procedures and communication around clinical studies.

More information regarding the patient panel outcomes will be consolidated in a white paper about the patient perspectives on molecular imaging studies. Stay tuned!
